This is an 1870 pamphlet published by the railroad that covers speeches and editorials regarding the branches and extensions in Louisville, Pittsburg, Uniontown, Chicago and elsewhere. Many of the speeches are those written for and presented by John Garrett.

Diesel-Electric Locomotive Instruction Car Number X-1 (4MB .pdf file)

This is an August 6, 1942 report on the design, construction and capabilities of Diesel Electric Locomotive Instruction Car X-1. It was A-14 Coach 4253 until it was converted into this use. The report contains a brief description of the car, photos and a clearance diagram.

Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company and Affiliated Lines Sketch Map Showing Valuation Sections

This is an invaluable map for anyone who is researching the Valuation Maps of the B&O Railroad. This is THE INDEX MAP of the B&O's Valuation Map collection updated to May 1, 1945. This shows not only the B&O's existing lines, but also planned lines such as the Fairfax C.H. extension and the proposed Baltimore Cut-Off to move freight from the Old Main Line to the Philadelphia Line that bypassed Baltimore completely. Locomotive Classes Allowed on Specific Portions of the B&O (3 MB .pdf file)

This document shows the various B&O routes and the locomotive classes that can and cannot run on them. The first page shows the dollar amount needed to upgrade the lines for certain engine classes. This is followed by a series of maps.

This document is a report from the files of the VP of Engineering on the various truss bridge types in service during the 1914.  This provides some rare photographs of Bollman Bridges in service in the 20th Century.
